Cessna A-37 "Dragonfly"

During the 1950's the Cessna T-37 was an aircraft used for training pilots in jet aircraft. In the early 1960's, the U.S. Air Force evaluated the T-37 for a low and slow attack-reconnaissance aircraft for counter-insurgency efforts within Vietnam. Upgrading its twin engines, installing wing tip fuel tanks and armament, the T-37 became the A-37 "Dragonfly". Its maximum air speed was 500 mph and a range of 450 miles with in-flight refueling capability. Installed armament consisted of a .30 caliber, 6 barreled "mini gun" machine gun and up to 5,000 lbs of bombs, rockets, napalm or electronic surveillance equipment.
