- Wolfgang W. Peters *** US Air Force *** 1956-1959
-
- Serving as a Sergeant with
the USAF at Evreux Air Base in
France during the late 1950's, Peter's
photos show the introduction of the Lockheed "Hercules"
C-130, cargo aircraft. Serving as a Aircraft Mechanic in the
317th CAMS (Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron) of the
322nd Air Division, the crispness of his Kodachrome slides show
flight line, barracks activities and Vintage Aircraft. The Hercules,
C-130 with a range of 1800 miles and speed of 350 mph was replacing
the Fairchild "Flying BoxCar" C-119 that flew half
that distance and at a slower 245 mph. His duties of Aircraft
and Engine Maintenance gives us a view from cockpit to cargo
area.
