Willy's photographs are of vintage aircraft, patches,
emblems and motorcycles! Enlisting
into the Air Force in June 1949, he started with basic training
at Lackland Air Base, Texas. He received additional training
in aircraft engine maintenance as a specialist in aircraft hydraulic
systems at Sheppard Air Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. With the
outbreak of the Korean War in 1950, he served with the Military
Air Transport Service (MATS) in the 9th Air Wing at Hickam Field,
Honolulu, Hawaii from 1950 until his discharge in December 1952.
