Mattie's active
military service in the Army began when her Army Reserve Unit
was activated from January 1990 to December 1990. After AIT,
Advance Infantry Training at Ft. Mcllellan, Alabama, she was
assigned during the Gulf War with the 339th Military Police Company
escorting Military Arsenal shipments and duty in Gebel-Ali, Saudi
Araba. Directly enlisting into the Navy from December 1990 to
October 1995, she became a StoreKeeper 2nd Class. After Haz-Mat
material training at Ft. Huenme, Washington, she served at Mcmurdo,
Antarctica and the USS Jason AR-TAC8.
