Arthur was drafted during WWII into the U.S. Army Air Corps, March 1945. A machinist by trade he was assigned to the 989th Engineering Squadron on Okinawa. His machining skills fabricated tools which repaired B-29's bombers. The war ended and this Corporal's draftee status was curtailed with a Honorable Discharge in October 1946. A paper trail documents his registration of Draftee though Discharge illustrating administration of the Selective Service and Military Service.
