Robert Waldheim ***
U.S. Marines *** Vietnam 1967-1968
- Bob
served with Kilo Company, 3rd Marines, 9th Division ,K-3/9 in
Vietnam from July 10, 1967 to June 1968. Landing in Da Nang he
went north to the DMZ, serving with "Splib Squad" patrolling
Dong Ha, Con Tein, Camp Carroll and the Rock Pile. In January
of 1968 he volunteered to participate in the C.A.G. program living
among the Vietnamese near Phu Bia where he celebrated the Tet
Offensive of 1968. His unique impressionistic images are due
to the use of a Minox camera that used film similar to 110 format.
While the small negative yields grainy images, this smaller than
a pack of cigarettes, rugged and lightweight camera allowed one
to carry it in pocket for those impromptu photographic opportunities
.
